Training

The Special Protective Service, LLC. (c) provides 40-hours of initial training to every new officer on; patrol techniques, loss prevention, crime prevention, anti-terrorism, probable cause, arrest procedures, use-of-force, deadly force, de-escalation, less-than-lethal force, conducting investigations, uniform appearance, active shooter response, communication, and report writing. Additionally, all armed officers and investigators complete the 16-hour Maryland Practical Police Course which is comprised of topics that include; firearms safety, maintenance, nomenclature, marksmanship, self-defense law, and deadly force. Both modules of instruction include relevant state and federal laws.
