SPS “Basics of Pistol Shooting”, D.C. MPD General Order 901.1 “Handling of Service Weapons”, MPD General Order 901.7 “Use of Force”, DCMR “6-A Police Personal”, and “Use of Force Incident Reports” (UFIR).
Course Description:
This 40-hour course of study provides both Washington, D.C. Special Police Officers with comprehensive instruction on the required firearms training, use-of-force training, & criminal procedure required by the MPD. Upon completion, the student will understand; relevant MPD service pistol law, firearms safety, nomenclature, deadly force, and the use-of-force framework. The student must pass a final exam with a score of 80% or higher to graduate. Cost: $399.99

Course Description:
This 24-hour course of instruction provides Armed Security Guards with the required security training to successfully perform security services in the State of Maryland. Additionally, the curriculum includes the 16-Hour Maryland Practical Police Course which is required to apply for a Permit to Carry a Handgun. The course of study includes topics on federal/state law, patrol techniques, loss prevention, crime deterrence, use-of-force, firearms safety, defensive tactics, pistol nomenclature, and basic marksmanship.
